Проблема с настройкой Wi-Fi адаптера

Здравствуйте, господа! Всех православных с Рождеством Христовым.
Помогите, пожалуйста разобраться с проблемой настройки сети Wi-Fi.
Имеется ОС ASP 11.2 и устройство Acorp WUD-G.
Драйвер, который предлагается на сайте Acorp скомпилировать не удалось. Поэтому с сайта Realtek скачал драйвер для чипа rtl8187.
Скомпилировал. Далее следую инструкции:
modprobe rtl8187
iwconfig
chkconfig NetworkManager off
chkconfig NetworkManagerDispatcher off
chkconfig wpa_supplicant off

wpa_supplicant –iwlan0 –Dwext –c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf –B
dhclient wlan0

В ответ на последнее получаю:

Сеть не защищённая, без авторизации. Соединиться необходимо с ADSL роутером. Он раздаёт адреса через dhcp. Может я что-то принципиально не так делаю? Или проблема с драйвером?

Пробовал настроить в ASP 14. Устройство определилось, NM даже говорит, что подключение произошло. Но в интернет доступа нет, даже пинг до модема не проходит. Заметил интересную особенность: иногда если отключиться от сети и сразу же подключиться, то буквально на секунду открывается интернет (т.е. те сайты которые были в состоянии загрузки вдруг на некоторую часть загружаются).
Однако, всё же интересует ASP 11.2. В 14-м мой ПК сильно тормозит...

У меня селерон 1 гигагерц.... ASP14 тормозит даже в простейших графических оболочках. Я не являюсь гуру в никсах, посему о компиляции под свою систему даже не задумываюсь, да и времени это заняло не мало бы, чую...
Так что пользуюсь последним, стабильно работающим у меня, софтом... Выбирать не приходится.
ДЛя интереса поставил вчера OpenSUSE 11.2 - та же беда, что и в ASP14. Адаптер определяется, Yast пишет, что я в сети, но сети нет...

А вот у нас на cel800/512/nx440 KDE4 с отключеными свистоперделками работает весьма шустро. И F11 на нем работает классно.

BigAndy, а Вы не могли бы написать пару слов о том, что нужно отключить? Я, так сказать, очень начинающий пользователь в этом деле. Пару лет назад пересел на linux, один раз подключил, что нужно было, и всё... Кое что уже забыл, а с остальным не имел практики. Вопросы возникают только когда нужно что-то новое настроить. В частности сейчас нужен интернет по средством ADSL -роутера. Коннект к нему через Wi-Fi. А так всё устраивает - не вижу смысла в обновлениях. Новые системы ставлю вторыми - просто поиграть, посмотреть что нового...
У меня установка ASP14 длится около 3-х (!) часов. У Вас так же?
А вот SUSE встал всего за час.
На счёт подключения руками.
В ASP11.2 я уже что только не пробовал. Понимаю, что могу где-то ошибаться, вот и прошу совета.
Завтра после работы буду пробовать ручную настройку в SUSE.

Как-то одно с другим не вяжется... Катается от смеха
Отключили все ненужные эффекты, плазму настроили в вид рабочего стола, отключили все семантические десктопы, и прочее все е нужное.
СИстема грузится в init3. Потом уже пользователеь при необходимости грузить xwindows
